    Walnut Cake with Coffee Flavor

As fall approaches heavily in Brittany, here is a new recipe for a cake ideal to eat on chilly Sunday afternoons.

  • Plum Cake with Cinnamon

    Plum Cake with Cinnamon Flavor

As an interested reader of this blog you may already have found out that I prefer cooking delicious yet relatively quick and easy recipes. Therefore, I would like to share my recipe for plum cake today. It does not for for plums only but for many other fruit. So, you could easily turn it into a cherry cake for example.

    Stewed Lamb Leg

Here for once is a meat dish: stewed lamb with vegetables. Best is to take meat from the leg or joint. These are not the most expensive parts and by the relatively long stewing they become nice and tender yet stay juicy! Also, this dish is budget friendly and if you have a kitchen garden with herbs and some vegetables it becomes even more affordable. Let’s get down to the preparation though. For the taste I wanted to focus on[...]

  • green pesto genovese thumb

    Green Pesto (Genovese)

Pasta with green pesto (Genovese) is both a speedy but healthy dish To make the pesto you best you a food processor. You could also do it by hand but that takes longer  and the result is less even. Put your basil into the food processor, you can use everything not only the leaves. Add your Parmesan cheese as well as the nuts. The amount can vary depending on how strong you want the cheese and nut taste. I’d say[...]

  • prawn curry coriander tomato salad

Creamy Prawn Curry & Tomato Coriander Salad

Another very easy to cook dish. This creamy prawn curry and tomato coriander salad is a perfect dish for the summer time as it is light, fresh and very tasty.

    Tandoori Chicken

Tandoori chicken is really one of THE classics when people think of Indian cuisine and it’s also one of my favourite chicken dishes. The beauty of this recipe is of course the marinade  but it’s relatively easy to prepare not so so time consuming either.

  • pasta ragu thumb

    Pasta con Ragù (Bolognese)

Another one on my all time classic list: Pasta Bolognese or in this case a meat sauce as it is not 100% after the original recipe. Great dish for busy people as it is quick to prepare and can slowly cook for hours on a low flame. This way you can still work in the evenings and will have a great dish ready when you finish your work.

    Sardines Mediterranean Style

Simple recipe I cook from time to time when I don’t have much time. It is really easy to cook and tastes just great, a classic Italian / Mediterranean Style dish, perfect for a summer evening. You can serve it as main dish but also as part of a bigger menu. Goes great with rice, couscous or a salad.

    My new baby

If you are into cooking, like I am, you know that you need a darn good knife. Today I bought me a new one. A big one If you take a closer look at the blade, you see a nice pattern. This is Damascene Steel. Love it! The knob is made of wood. Feels really nice and heavy in hand. Really looking forward to use it this evening. Have a bison and a kangaroo steak in the fridge

Yes, I know. Lets go on as if nothing happened ;)

Today was a great day here in Brittany. Sunny and hot. So we choose to take the afternoon off and go to Dinan two stop by at one of our favourite bakeries. We ordered two macarons, one raspberry and one pistaccio with Amarena cherries plus a Financier which is a soft butter cooky filled with salted caramel. Right across the street at the harbor of Dinan is a little garden where we sat down for a while, enjoyed the sunshine[...]

I thought to myself “Well, I did not write a post on my private blog for some days, so let’s do it tody.” But the shock hit me like a lightning. ONE MONTH without a post. Holy cow! A lot happened in the meanwhile. To start with let me show you some dishes from the last weeks. Enjoy and talk soon, NOT in a month this time. Promissed!

Rhubarb Cake with Meringue

Posted by Kirsten On May - 27 - 2009 2 Comments

This is one of those recipes that are not planned this way. I wanted to bake a cake. Well, my friend told me that I wanted to bake a cake. So I said yes before checking the shelves if I had all the ingredients. On Sunday, I started and soon realized that I neither had baking powder nor yeast. Great. But fortunately we are not living in the middle ages anymore and there is wireless internet in the kitchen. So[...]

An afternoon at Cap Fréhel

Posted by Kirsten On May - 24 - 2009 0 Comment

The Cap Fréhel is situated near the town of Matignon and is the most stunning cliff in this part of Brittany (Haute Bretagne) and therefore extremely popular amongst both tourists and locals on a sunny day and over the weekened. You have the possibility to go there by boat from Saint Malo or simply drive up to the Cap by car. Parking cost 2 Euros, so rather reasonable and in the end nothing is for free

La Pointe Grouin

Today I want to show you one of my favourite spots on the Côte d’Emeraude, the Emerald Coast of Brittany. It is the peninsula named La Pointe Grouin. It is north of Cancale, the oyster capital I already showed you in my other video here on this blog. La Pointe de Grouin on PhotoPeach Standing on la Pointe Grouin on a clear day will give you a magnificent view to the east over Normandy, la Baie and the Mont Saint[...]
